The acts of two Janesville Police Sergeants the day of a fatal workplace shooting last month are being recognized by the City’s top cop.
Police Chief David Moore has awarded Chief’s Commendations to Sergeants Jimmy Holford III and Robert Perkins II.
Moore says the award is given to any employee who performs a particularly noteworthy act of service.
Moore says Holford was the first officers on scene who went directly to the victim to make sure he got immediate care before clearing the area so paramedics could safely enter.
Moore says that Sergeant Perkins remained at the station and handled the incident command – assuring there was a proper perimeter and other officers assigned to arrest the suspect.
23-year-old Kevin Todd of Evansville is charged with first degree intentional homicide. He’s due in court for a preliminary hearing June 13th.
