A 43-year-old Brodhead woman is facing charges after Janesville police say she “bit” an officer. Police say Shasta C. Howell resisted arrest during a traffic stop about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday near West Centerway and North Academy Street. Officers say Howell used her feet to brace herself in the vehicle as they attempted to take her into custody on several previous charges. Police say pepper spray was needed and while attempting to handcuff Howell, she bit an officer in the arm. The officer needed to be treated at the hospital. Howell faces charges including Resisting an Officer, Battery to Law Enforcement, and several counts of Bail Jumping.
