Rock County officials should know soon if a $2 million State Broadband Expansion grant application is approved.
The money would add to the $6 million in ARPA funding that’s already been set aside by the Rock County Board to pay for an ambitious rural high-speed Internet expansion program.
45th Assembly District Representative Mark Spreitzer says the County is partnering with Bug Tussel Wireless on the proposal.
The Beloit Democrat says Rock County has a better chance of getting a grant now that Governor Tony Evers has increased funding to the program from $100 million to $125 million.
The State Public Service Commission has received a total of 194 applications requesting more than $495 million in grant funding.
