Eaglet recovering at Hoo’s Woods after nest falls from tree

An eaglet is recovering from injuries following the fall and crash of an eagle’s nest near the Rock River in downtown Janesville Wednesday afternoon.
Hoo’s Woods Raptor Center founder and director Diane Mollar says the tree holding the eagle’s nest became oversaturated and couldn’t sustain the weight of the nest.
Mollar points out that an eagle’s nest can weigh in the neighborhood of two tons.
The eaglet, who is fully grown and was close to fledging, was located Thursday afternoon and sent to Hoo’s Woods for treatment from its injuries.
Mollar says the raptor center will provide updates on the eaglet’s condition on its Facebook page.
