A local Congressman requests federal funding for a community project in Edgerton.
2nd District Congressman Mark Pocan, who’s a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced last week that all 15 of his earmarks are advancing out of committee.
Edgerton Community Outreach Executive Director Sarah Williams says the Blue Earth Democrat requested $700,000 for the local non profit to renovate the oldest building in the downtown into affordable housing for veterans.
Williams says the project also includes a meeting space in the lower level with a commercial kitchen that could eventually be used for feeding programs in the community.
All 15 projects now head to the House floor for consideration and must be agreed to by the U.S. Senate and signed by the President before they become law.
