Janesville Police conduct active shooter training July 11th and 12th at Franklin Middle School.
Lieutenant Mark Ratzlaff says it’s important to get new hires trained and up-to-speed.
Ratzlaff says they try to do this types of training four to six times a year.
Ratzlaff says officers train using the ALERRT technique, which the FBI uses nation-wide.
Ratzlaff says the training next week is specifically for Janesville officers, although in the past they’ve opened it up for law enforcement officers county-wide.
