A motion to reallocate Small Business Program ARPA funds to the Child Care Business Program failed at a Thursday Rock County Board Supervisor Meeting.
Blackhawk Technical College President Dr. Tracy Pierner voiced his support for the reallocation, saying that Rock County is a child care desert and that providing parents quality child care reduces barriers to workforce participation.
Rock County Board Member Mike Zoril suggested tabling the resolution until there were more details and they are able to talk to constituents, noting that as a father the issue hits close to home but that he needs to make a decision that is in the best interest of everybody.
The motion failed to reach the 20 yes votes that required for issues that amend the budget.
