Janesville police make arrest in connection with armed robbery

A 45-year-old homeless man is under arrest following an armed robbery early Monday morning in Janesville.
Police were called to the Lions Quick Mart in the one-hundred block of East Racine street just before 4:00 a.m.
Police say the suspect entered the gas station and threatened the clerk with a knife before fleeing on a bicycle.
Lieutenant Mark Ratzlaff says after reviewing surveillance video, several officers and several members of the public identified Joshua Sokolik as the suspect.
Ratzlaff says an officer saw Sokolik riding his bicycle near Marshall Apartments on Tuesday and took him into custody following a short chase.
Sokolik has an initial appearance in Rock County Court scheduled for September 12th on misdemeanor charges of obstructing an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, and retail theft.
