For the 40th year in a row, the Beloit Public Library is encouraging 4th and 5th graders to participate in a battle of the books of sorts.

BookQuest is an annual reading program that encourages area kids to read a list of books before participating in a friendly competition at the end of the school year.

Marketing and Communications Coordinator Amy Mitchell says the launch party will take place Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

The evening will feature fun activity stations for kids, a live pigeon talk and demonstration, refreshments, and a presentation by national author Darcy Miller.
