The Wisconsin Community Action Program Association and the Wisconsin Coalition Against Homelessness will be conducting a listening session on homeless services on Tuesday, October 4th from 6pm-7:30pm at the Eclipse Center Gymnasium in Beloit, WI (27 Eclipse Center, Beloit, WI 53511).

In coordination with Community Action, Inc of Rock and Walworth Counties, WISCAP and WCAH look forward to hosting this session to hear from individuals experiencing homelessness and service providers on the current systems in place, potential system improvements, and to envision what an alternative system might look like. Representative Mark Spreitzer, who represents Assembly District 45, has been invited to listen and learn from his constituents as well as provide updates from a legislative perspective.

Marc Perry, Executive Director of Community Action, Inc. of Rock & Walworth Counties states, “The listening session is an opportunity for those providing housing and homeless services to address what is working and where gaps in service provision still exist. More importantly, it is an opportunity for those whom have benefited from available services and those who are struggling with housing stability to share their experiences and be heard.”

“Homelessness reveals itself in different ways across Wisconsin, including in diverse cities and towns like Beloit, Janesville and surrounding rural areas. We can only truly address the homeless crisis in the state when we recognize that any solution requires both local voices and broader system change, not a one-size-fits-all approach,” said Brad Paul, WISCAP’s Executive Director.

In addition to this listening session, WISCAP and WCAH will hold other listening sessions in the fall of 2022.
