The vacant Steinhafels Mattress store on the northwest corner of the Uptown Janesville property could be getting new life soon.
Senior Planner Brian Schweigl says RockStep Capital is seeking a conditional use permit to convert the building into a two-tenant retail space.
Schweigl says the plan is to open a new Starbucks location with a drive-thru and move the Lenscrafters store that’s inside the mall out to the newly remodeled space.
Janesville already has one Starbucks location on Deerfield Drive and another inside Target that is temporarily closed. A third location is going up inside the new Hy-Vee store.
The Plan Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the conditional use permit on October 17th.
