Area Hospital Provides Paramedical Tattooing For Mastectomy Recipients

An area hospital is helping breast cancer survivors close a chapter in their recovery journey.  Edgerton Hospital’s 3-D Areola Paramedical Tattooing provides realistic designs to recreate the areola and nipple following a mastectomy.  The tattoos aid in survivors regaining self-confidence and body positivity.  The hospital’s tattoo artist, Ann Rudel (pictured), is a double mastectomy breast cancer survivor herself.  Rudel, who has also worked as an Occupational Therapist at the hospital for years, has been doing paramedical tattooing for seven years.  She became interested after receiving permanent makeup after her eyebrows wouldn’t grow back following chemotherapy.  Rudel adds that her work with paramedical tattoos allows others to walk in the shoes she’s already worn.
