Candidates for the 45th Assembly District seat had the opportunity to discuss a variety of topics at Wednesday night’s community forum.
When asked what were some of the most pressing issues facing the district, Republican Jeff Klett said the education within the district needed to improve, while Democrat Clinton Anderson said that infrastructure was a cause for concern within the district.
The legalization of recreational marijuana was also a topic at the forum.
Anderson said he supports the full legalization of marijuana and it would bring revenue dollars to the area and state currently go to Illinois when Wisconsin residents visit dispensaries south of the state-line border.
Klett said he supports the legalization of medical marijuana, but there are pitfalls to legalizing recreational use including more accidents and lower test scores.
The 45th District Assembly seat will be on the November 8th ballot, as current holder Representative Mark Spreitzer is running for the District 16 Wisconsin Senate Seat.
