The Rock County Fairgrounds in Janesville will welcome emergency responders, amateur radio operators, and communications experts from across the state Thursday morning for the 2022 SIMCOM exercise.
Wisconsin Emergency Management Public Information Officer Andrew Beckett says the event gives them an opportunity to get together and learn how their equipment works in response to an emergency.
Beckett says that amateur radio operators are crucial to emergency response and they provide a valuable resource to keep communications going while emergencies are occurring.
The event is invite only, and will move to new location for 2023.
