The 50-megawatt North Rock Solar Project in Fulton has wrapped up construction and is now fully operational.
Alliant Energy Construction Manager Erik Jensen says the site doesn’t require a lot to run the solar panels and can be run hands off, making the facility relatively self sufficient.
Jensen says like all construction projects there were some initial concerns, but it has been a positive experience for Alliant and the Town of Fulton was a good partner in the process.
The site generates enough electricity to power roughly 13,000 homes and sits on 473 acres.
The site estimates to provide $6 million in shared revenue to the community and county over 30 years.
