The 39-year-old Janesville woman who’s accused of striking and killing a nine-year-old boy in a cross walk last month makes her initial appearance in Rock County Court.
Brenda Violante appeared before Court Commissioner Jack Hoag Monday afternoon where a $1000 signature bond was set on one count of knowingly operating without a valid license causing death.
According to the criminal complaint, Violante was stopped for the stop sign at Prairie Avenue and East memorial Drive the afternoon of September 28th, but didn’t see the boy crossing the street as she made a right turn.
Janesville Police say Violante likely had a hard time seeing over the dashboard of the large SUV she was driving and that the vehicle also had illegal tint on the windows.
Violante is due back in court for her preliminary hearing on November 21st.
