Number of factors lead to delay in Janesville election results

vote-2

Janesville’s election results took longer than expected to be tallied, with final numbers not being official until early Wednesday morning.
City Clerk Lori Stottler says an increase in absentee votes was one of reasons for the delayed results because early voting absentee has become a norm and they simply don’t have the staff to handle the volume.
Stottler says another reason was a late push at polling locations on election day, noting that lines at the resource center were 75 people long and absentee ballots were still coming in right up until 8:00pm.
Rock County saw more than 75,000 votes cast during Tuesday’s election, with more than 25,000 coming from Janesville wards.
