The American Diabetes Association, the nation’s leading diabetes organization committed to fighting diabetes, is recognizing MercyHealth for their diabetes education program.
Diabetes nurse educator Lynn Hartwig says MercyHealth has always believed in having a strong educational program for diabetes and every four years they need to reapply for recognition to show they are giving the highest care and education to their patients.
Hartwig says typically the program is generally based upon physician referral, but if someone wants to benefit from the program they can contact their physician of the MercyHealth diabetes center.
MercyHealth’s program, called Managing for Life, was first given this recognition in 2003.
