Individuals interested in running for one of the four Janesville City Council seats up for election next spring can now begin the process of getting on the ballot.
City Clerk Lori Stottler says Thursday was the first day to being circulating nomination papers and candidates need to get at least 100 but no more than 200 signatures on their papers to end up on the ballot.
Stottler says there are a few different requirements to run for city council, including being 18 or older, be a citizen of the US, a resident of Janesville, and not be convicted of a felony in any court in the US unless pardoned.
Stottler says people have until January 3rd to turn in their nomination papers at city hall to make sure they are on the April ballot.
