Those who want to run for public office in Rock County municipalities are being reminded of the ins and outs by the counties clerk.
Lisa Tollefson tells WCLO’s Your Talk Show if people are going to run for office, its better to get signatures sooner rather than later and make sure you get extra signatures in case some get thrown out.
Tollefson says the amount of signatures needed varies by city; in Janesville and Beloit candidates need between 100 and 200, in Milton they need between 50 and 100, and in some smaller villages and towns that work off a caucus system.
Nomination papers are due back to the city-clerk’s office by January 3rd at 5:00pm.
