New time delay safes at CVS locations throughout Rock County will hopefully prevent the theft over controlled substances.
Health Pharmacy Leader Nate Burrell says the device will create a lockout period from the time you enter a passcode until you can open the safe, and with the rise of the opioid epidemic they’ve seen an increase in the amount of robberies of controlled substances.
Burrell says the majority of what will be in the safe will be schedule two controlled substances like opioid medications for pain and stimulant medication that helps treat things like ADHD.
CVS has five locations throughout Rock County, with three in Janesville and two in Beloit.
