Monroe man arrested after crashing into utility pole

A 36-year-old man is facing charges after Monroe police say he crashed into a utility police.
According to a news release, offices were dispatched to the 300 block of West 17th Street just after 10:30 Tuesday night on the report of an accident with no reported injuries.
Investigation determined that Melvin O. Garcia Espinoza of Monroe was headed east on West 17th Street when he crossed the centerline, exited the roadway to the north, and collided with a utility pole.
Neither Garcia Espinoza or his passenger reported any injuries. The vehicle had to be towed away from the scene.
Garcia Espinosa was arrested on suspicion of first offense operating while intoxicated. He was also cited for operating without a valid license, operating without insurance, and failure to maintain control of a vehicle.
