The City of Janesville has mailed 2022 property tax bills, marking the first year of a new intergovernmental partnership.
City Clerk Lori Stottler says this was the first year they had Rock County create the tax bills like they did for the 27 other jurisdictions in the county, hoping to make things more efficient and accurate for property owners.
Stottler says the process was an overall success, with one exception. A merge error may have resulted in a second owner’s name having an incorrect middle initial or the inadvertent shortening of a listed trust or business name.
Sottler says the issue has since been fixed and posted on the county treasurer’s website, and the issue did not affect the accuracy on financial information on the bills.
Residents can pay their bill before the end of the year, but the first installment is due January 21st.
