
Beloit’s local movie theatre will have to wait a little longer to know if they can start selling alcohol.
Council Member Kevin Leavy expressed some concerns about passing the ordinance so quickly, and wanted the council to go over all the provisions to make sure they wouldn’t have to circle back on anything at a later date.
City Attorney Elizabeth Krueger said one provision to consider would be requiring distinct containers for alcohol, as they’d be easier to enforce than requiring those drinking alcohol to wear wristbands.
Classic Cinemas in Beloit came to the city council to change a city ordinance that prohibits theatres from selling alcohol if they display movies that contain nudity.
The amendment will now appear before the city council at their next meeting on January 17th.
