The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announces the Urban Forestry Grant program has awarded $108,220 to eight communities for urban forestry projects.
Town of Beloit Road Department Foreman Mike Birkholz says the town received $11,800, which it must match dollar for dollar.
Birkholz says the town plans to plant some containerized trees that you don’t normally see in this area and do some chainsaw training.
This is the sixth year in a row that the town of Beloit has received an urban forestry grant from the DNR.
