A safety study evaluating pedestrian and biking corridors in Beloit could make the City eligible for future grants.

Public Works Director Bill Frisbee asked the City Council for approval to apply for a $214,000 federal Transportation Alternatives Program grant which would fund 80 percent of the cost of the study.

If the grant is approved the City would be required to fund a 20 percent match, which would be $53,500.

The City Council approved the request in a unanimous vote after pulling the item from the consent agenda at their meeting this week.
