The Janesville Plan commission gives Mercyhealth North the thumbs to replace its existing monument sign on Deerfield Drive with a pylon-style sign that is 10 feet taller.
Janesville Development Services Director Vicky Miller says last year MercyHealth North Clinic brought forth a proposal for a 58-foot tall, 1000 foot monument sign, which the Plan Commission rejected.
At the time, the City offered Mercy a compromise in which they would have been allowed to build a 44-foot tall monument-style sign, however they refused.
The new sign will be seven-and-three-quarters feet wider, bringing the total square feet from 400 to 442.
