Rock County celebrates National work Zone Safety Week

April 17th through the 21st is National Work Zone Awareness Week.
The Rock County Public Works Department is using the opportunity to urge motorists to drive carefully in highway work zones as the 2023 road construction season gets underway.
Wednesday, April 19th, is “Go Orange Day,” in which people are asked to wear something orange in support of highway safety. Everyone is encouraged to submit photos of themselves, their family, and their friends wearing orange.
Area children are also invited to participate in a color contest on the Rock County website.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, over the past five years there have been more than 11,500 crashes in Wisconsin work zones causing 63 deaths and more than 4,300 injuries.
