A $20,000 grand prize is going to help an art teacher at Adams Elementary School in Janesville make some upgrades around the building.
Amanda Zdrale says her essay was selected for the top prize after she entered the Stick With Art contest, which invited art educators grades K-12 to share photos of students popsicle stick creations on social media.
Zdrale says she’s going to start off by using the money to have a mural painted at the school next fall, upgrading the stools and flexible seating in her studio, and changing one of her sinks to a handicap accessible sink.
More than 800 people entered into the nationwide contest.
