Invasive species within the road right-of-way and adjacent properties can pose a significant health risk to highway workers, utility workers, emergency responders.
The Rock County Highway Department is testing out a new approach for eradicating these noxious invasive plants.
Highway Commissioner Duane Jorgensen says weather permitting, the County will begin spraying areas on the east side of Rock County with herbicide.
Jorgensen says the herbicides are plant specific and will not hurt native plants.
Jorgenson says organic farmers should get in touch with the County so they can avoid spraying herbicide near their property.
