Local State Senator critical of Joint Finance Committee

A local state legislator is speaking out after the Joint Finance Committee votes to return the proposed 2023-2025 state budget to the base budget approved last budget session.
State Senator Mark Spreitzer is worried his constituents voices are being ignored after the JFC stripped much of Governor Tony Evers budget proposals away in a single motion.
Spreitzer, who represents the 15th State Senate District says Wisconsin has a more than $7 billion surplus and a crucial opportunity to invest in the people of Wisconsin.
The Beloit Democrat says a majority of Wisconsinites support expanding BadgerCare, funding school-based mental health programs, passing common-sense gun safety measures, and legalizing marijuana.
Spreitzer says by removing policies like this from future consideration, legislative Republicans are ignoring the will of the people of our state and silencing their voices.
