UW Health has announced a new base will be coming to the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport in Janesville.
In a release, Med Flight medical director Dr. Andrew Cathers says most of the need for their services was coming from outside Dane County, so it just made sense to place their teams and vehicles regionally.
Cathers says they are excited about the new Med Flight coverage map because in emergency situations it gives them a better chance to save a life when time is of the essence.
Med Flight expects to have its new Janesville-based helicopter ready to fly by winter.
