Youth organizations in Milton are expressing their displeasure with facility use fees which were recently approved by the Milton School District.
Liz Webb with Milton Youth Basketball says they are unsure of the financial impact, but at minimum it will cost them $10,000 a year and they will have to choose between hosting events, passing costs onto participants, or cutting services or resources.
Milton Band Parents Association President Sarah King says they shouldn’t be categorized as an outside organization because their funds go to students, including student scholarships and even band uniforms.
The new schedule divides groups into tiers, with tier one groups such as non profits and school affiliated groups receiving no charge, while tier two groups like exclusive or private sports organizations and tier three groups such as non-local groups and for-profit organizations will pay fees.
