Art Infusion 2023, held in downtown Janesville September 8 – 10, is currently seeking artists to enhance utility boxes and a piano.
For the utility box project, artists will be asked to enhance the beauty of three (total) utility boxes with paint at Dawson Softball Complex and Riverside Park by transforming them into works of art. This project is in partnership with the Janesville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau and the City of Janesville Parks and Recreation Divisions.
Additionally, there is an opportunity to enhance an upright piano that will be painted and placed in downtown’s Town Square. Once the project is completed it will be free for all to enjoy both visually and musically. This project pairs visual art and music while showcasing a local artist. The piano was graciously donated by the Kathy and Bill Schendt family for this project.
Artists can download the applications and apply via a portal on the Janesville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (JACVB) website or by picking up an application at the JACVB office located in Olde Towne Mall at 20 S Main St, Ste 11, during regular business hours. To participate, artists must be over 18 years of age, consider themselves to be a professional artist, and reside in Rock County or an adjoining County. The deadline for submissions is August 15.
Once completed, these projects will increase awareness of art, strengthen the community’s connection with it, and provide additional free opportunities for art appreciation. Art Infusion is currently seeking sponsors and donors. For questions or to donate or become a sponsor, please contact Nigella Ryan at (608) 774-0949.
