An expansion of youth programs at Community Action of Rock and Walworth Counties looks to better serve the youth in the community.
Director of Learning and Adult Preparation Nikia Morton says they’re adding the Teen Outreach Program, or TOP, which is aimed at middle school aged kids and will eventually provide year round programming for students.
Morton says the information they’re seeing tells them they need to be reaching kids at an even younger age and they’re being proactive and preventive, but if something is happening they can provide intervention to give kids an alternate route forward.
Community Action’s high school aged program, PREP, is taught at seven Rock County schools and served nearly twenty eight hundred youth in 2023-2024.
