The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is warning people not to pay bail or other charges for jail inmates using what authorities say is an unauthorized third-party web site.
The sheriff’s office says a resident found a web link, Jail Exchange Dot Com, which is made to appear affiliated with the Rock County Jail. The site has no connection to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office or jail, even though it presents photos of inmates, and inmate search option and payments for bonds and commissary fees.
The site offers bail bonds, which aren’t available in Wisconsin.
Sheriff’s office officials say anybody with a valid ID can pay bonds in person, at the lobby of the Rock County jail, with cash or credit. Or, people can use the sheriff’s office’s official portal to jail inmates’ bail and commissary accounts or by using the sheriff’s office’s official online payment portal, access corrections dot com.
