According to the Rock County Public Health Department, since January first, there have been a total of 19 suspected fatal overdoses recorded in Rock County – 12 of them in Beloit.
In order to help combat what is becoming a pandemic, Rock County is installing its second free NARCAN and fentanyl test strip vending machine at the Beloit Public Library.
Marketing and Communications Coordinator Amy Mitchell says it was made possible through a $50,000 grant from the state’s opioid settlement funds.
Mitchell says the library is open 62 hours a week and is right on the bus line.
Rock County installed its first NARCAN vending machine at the Rock County Jail in December, and so far 80 doses have been distributed.
