A water rate increase could be in store for citizens of Janesville.
Utility Director Dave Botts says on Monday night the Janesville City Council will consider authorizing the City Manager to file a simplified water rate increase case with the Public Service Commission.
Botts says if approved, the City would be eligible for an eight percent increase effective 45 days after the application was filed.
Botts says costs to operate the Janesville water utility continue to increase while revenue has remained stagnant for the last four years.
The last time water rates were increased was 2019.
