Crew members from the USS Beloit are stopping by the city its named after later this month.
Director of Strategic Communications Sarah Lock says the some of the crew will be in town August 27th through the 31st and will be stopping by area schools to meet with local youth, visiting Fairbanks Morse, and a downtown walking tour.
Lock says they’ll also be holding a meet and greet with the crew so members of the community can form a relationship with the crew on August 27th at Telfer Park from 3 until 5pm.
The meet and greet will feature shaved ice, yard games, and is free to the public.
