One Janesville City Council member isn’t buying that enough is being done for the city’s south side.
Heather Miller says the effort the city has put into the south side rejuvenation is “mediocre at best”, and over the last twenty years the city has been more reactive when it comes to economic development and that’s not working.
Miller says the city needs to protects its south side assets such as the airport, which is expanding, or the University of Whitewater at Rock County which is considering pulling out of Janesville.
Miller says the city also needs to “rebrand” the south side as a gateway, not an industrial park.
