A number of local instructors seem to have a better understanding of the workforce their students will be heading into after taking part in a relatively new program.
Rock County Economic Development Director James Otterstein says the Rock County Externship Program, now in its second year, places local instructors back into the private or public sector for a one week job shadowing session.
Otterstein says participants told them it had been so long since they were last in the private or public sector and things have changed greatly, and they were amazed at how technology was being utilized and the expectations of people in the workforce.
Otterstein says they had 19 instructors from four different districts go through the program this summer and were placed in 11 different companies.
