Food truck operators in Janesville may soon find it a little cheaper to operate in the city.
Assistant to the City Manager Nick Faust says at Monday night’s city council meeting, the council will look at scheduling a public hearing on lowering the fees associated with operating a food truck or mobile food vendor in Janesville.
Faust says city staff heard from a number of food truck operators that Janesville’s initial fee of $530 and renewal fee of $270 were excessive, so the city is looking at a few options including lowering the annual fee down to $250, offering a seasonal license for $150, or a special event license for $75.
According to an agenda item, September 25th would be the date for a public hearing on the changes, should the council decide to set one.
