Two families are displaced after a weekend fire in Beloit. Officials say firefighters responded to a duplex a little before 6:30 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of Hackett Street. Firefighters say the residents escaped safety, but three cats perished. The Red Cross is assisting the families. The cause is under investigation. Fire departments from the Town of Beloit, South Beloit, and Janesville assisted.
