A Beloit children’s shelter will continue to receive funding from the county, however COVID relief funds will not be getting used.
Supervisor Mike Zoril made multiple attempts to fund Derrick’s House with ARPA funds, including one proposal for an undetermined amount for next year, which would be figured out during budget time when taxes and the county budget are set.
Fellow Supervisor Janelle Crary says she was concerned how using one time ARPA funds for the shelter in the 2024 budget could create issues when they try to put together the 2025 budget.
The Derrick’s House allocation will be a part of a budget presentation by County Administrator Josh Smith at the next county board meeting on Oct. 12.
