A grant application is being submitted by the city of Beloit to help fund repairs for the Wood Family Fishing Bridge.
Public Works Director Bill Frisbee says the bridge goes across the Rock River by the dam and the deck is roughly 25 years old and the substructure is much older, and some studies and investigations found the bridge need maintenance or replacements.
Frisbee says they’re submitting a stewardship grant application to the DNR for a full replacement of the bridge, and the cost of the project is about $5.25 million but grant will only cover $4.2 million so they’ll have to fundraise to match the remaining amount.
The city council takes up the grant application at their meeting Monday night.
