A 34 year old Janesville man is under arrest after he took a dip in the Rock River following a shots fired incident.
According to a release, a Janesville police officer observed a disturbance occurring in the parking lot of Riley’s Sports Bar and Grill on Saturday.
While on the scene, the officer heard a gunshot which came from a vehicle leaving the parking lot and later the officer identified a male identified as Erik Heise get out from a passenger seat in the vehicle and start walking away.
The officer attempted to stop Heise, but he began running from the officer and dropped the firearm, then jumped into the Rock River just east of Festival Street.
With the assistance of the Janesville fire department, Heise was taken into custody and faces charges of 2nd degree reckless endangering safety, intoxicated use of a firearm, and reinstating an officer.
