
Janesville officially has their 2024 budget after unanimous approval by the city council Monday night.
Finance Director Dave Godek says the mil rate drops from $24.05 to $17.33, which is a byproduct of the revaluation of Janesville homes, and overall the net tax rate is down almost 28%.
Godek says taxes which include the operating levy, the debt service levy, and the levy for the Hedberg Public Library increased by $62.46 and median assessed home is expected to pay $1324.61 in taxes.
The 2024 Municipal budget includes a 2.9% increase in total expenditures.
