A local medical isotope manufacturer is highlighting the need for skilled engineers in southern Wisconsin.
More than 40 Wisconsin businesses including NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes in Beloit signed a letter urging the legislature to fund an expansion of the University of Wisconsin – Madison College of Engineering.
Chief Science Officer Jim Harvey says the company currently employs around 50 UW-Madison graduates, and most of them are engineers.
Harvey says a new, state-of-the-art building would provide the college the space needed to educate more engineering students and grow its undergraduate population by 1,000 students.
