The City of Janesville has spent 34 percent more on snow removal than at the same time last year.
Operations Director Maggie Darr says she’s asking the City Council for a supplemental budget appropriation for snow removal in 2023.
Darr says the City has spent $1.2 million on snow removal through October, which is 78 percent of the program budget.
According to a City memo, it’s likely the snow removal program budget will be exceeded by $100,000 due to the severity of winter weather in early 2023.
The Janesville City Council will consider the budget appropriation during their regular meeting on Monday night at City Hall.
