If you wonder why Janesville diesel repair operator Zach Timm has a booth at a career fair alongside big healthcare companies and factories that employ hundreds, it’s simple.
He needs diesel mechanics.
Timm operates Block Diesel Repair in Janesville. He’s one of a few small businesses among a field of mostly larger local employers who’ll offer up more than 260 jobs at the Rock County Job Center’s first job fair of 2024.
Timm says the current job market has forced him to train people who may not have experience working on big trucks. He doesn’t mind that. He’s attended job fairs before to offer both apprenticeships and full-time jobs to the right person in an in-demand job that comes with training.
The job fair runs from 2 to 4 p.m. January 10th at the Rock County Job Center at 1717 Center Avenue in Janesville. More details are at Wisconsin-Job-Center-dot-O-R-G.
